I truly believe that people have good intentions, not all comButterflye out that way but it is because they are not conscious enough to know the difference. And we live in a world of advice giving when one is in distress or when one appears to ask for our opinion…. What do we do? We give our advice , most freely.  Often times all they are really asking for is comfort and in reality… drum roll…. No one really listens to advice anyway. Now I know that this is a hard pill to swallow but here’s the deal.  We all do exactly what we want to do in the end.

So here’s a thought…. I invite you to be quiet. I know that it is not easy but let who ever it is simply vent. I know it’s completely understandable to have a need to want help. But what is it that the butterfly does before it can fly? Struggle. So be uncomfortable with this for a while.  And yes the advice asker always has to fact find but I invite you to simply be quiet and allow yourself to see what happens when you don’t give advice.  Just listen….. Be supportive. Allow for the spaciousness of quietness.

When is the last time you gave advice…?  How can you become a better listener? See what grace the space allows…

Be Melting Snow

Totally conscious, and apropos of nothing, you come to see me.
Is someone here? I ask.
The moon. The full moon is inside your house.

My friends and i go running out into the street.
i’m in here, comes a voice from the house, but we aren’t listening.
We’re looking up at the sky.
My pet nightingale sobs like a drunk in the garden.
Ringdoves scatter with small cries, Where, Where.
It’s midnight. The whole neighborhood is up and out
in the street thinking, the cat burglar has come back.
The actual thief is there too, saying out loud,
Yes, the cat burglar is somewhere in this crowd.
No one pays attention.

Lo, I am with you always means when you look for God,
God is in the look of your eyes,
in the thought of looking, nearer to you than yourself,
or things that happened to you
There’s no need to go outside.

Be melting snow.
Wash yourself of yourself.

A white flower grows in the quietness.
Let your tongue become that flower.

The Who of You… May 19, 2010

When children are little what is one of the first question they are asked?……..”What do you want to be when you grow up?” And I have to confess that I as a coach asked my clients the same question because it tells us an inner passion that may have not been fulfilled and can be explored.

But what I am more interested in is the question, “How do you want to be when you grow up?”  If you were to ask a child or for that fact even an adult “How do you what to be when you grow up?” I doubt they would say overstressed, over worked, cranky, uncommunicative, depressed… you get the idea. They would say Joyful, happy, playful, carefree and Loving. Now doesn’t that sound just beautiful!  I feel even light simply typing those words….. What would happen if we followed “How do you want to be when you grow up?” verses “What do you want to be when you grow up?” How do you think it wold affect your quality of life? Your interaction with people let alone your self?  How magnificent would it be to follow are how which would envelope are what so that everything that we did was led by Joyousness, Playfulness and Love….

My final question to you is…. How do You want to be when you grow up?

The Who of You… May 13, 2010

I am going to start a weekly posting called “The Who of You”. Of course there will be the other regular musings to read but this one is special.  I have had very unique thought about love for a while…. There are a lot of books out in the world the talk about the “What’s” and the “How’s” of being in the dating and love world.  It all seems to focus on the exterior. The hugely successful books “He’s just not that into you” or “The Rules” never focus on the who…. Like, hey do you even like him? How do you feel about you? What makes you sing? What are your joys?…. The inside of you. Who truly are you in this world?

We live in a world that lives on an IV drip of real-time information and we don’t stop to see and listen to our own inner voice to hear who we are.  So it is all about what we are, our job, our home, our car and what we can provide.  What’s the first thing you ask when meeting someone at a party… it’s usually What do you do for a living?  That’s the What of a person..How about What’s the last book you read or What did you want to be when you grew up. Stop for  a minute and think about our society and how it supports the what of us and not the who.  So how can we be expected to enter a relationship that is supported by the who. We have lived this way for centuries so how can be begin to shift this thought process?

This is just the beginning of my musing of the who of you!

The greatest gift and a direct route to helping us learn from our Karma. She is a remarkable woman!

Hope…. May 7, 2010

As some of you may… or may not know I blogged environmentally for few years so my heart is still very much attached to environmental causes and living.  My father raised my sisters and myself with this value, “When you borrow something you return it in the same condition if not better than the way you found it”. To me this extends to our planet. We are borrowing it for however much time we have in our life.  So with everything recently: Haiti, the following Earthquakes, the oil spill and most recently the flood in Nashville Tennessee my heart aches.

Now I know that whatever we focus we have more of…so my mind wanders to a more supportive thought….. like Hope.  Then my mind drifted to a song written by Blu Sanders, who’s unbelievably talented (and a friend). I wanted to post a YouTube clip but there isn’t one so I’ll attach it to iTunes to keep it above board. But here it is in it’s complete form on his MySpace page World Without Hope.  For me it’s all about the line…. “Let’s build a future we’re proud to own.” As for me this life time is about being of service and giving back. How do you want to give back to this planet? How do you reduce, reuse or recycle?

Thanks for helping Blu!

Today day I thought I’d quote some Esther and Jerry Hicks with some Law of Attraction.

“Within the seed of your desire is everything necessary for it to blossom to fulfillment. And Law of Attraction is the engine that does the work. Your work is just to give it a fertile growing place in order to expand.”

Questioning…. April 29, 2010

I wrote something on my Facebook site today that I felt needed further explanation… the post was this:  Always be searching. Always be questioning. And when you think you’ve found the answer….. Start questioning some more because when we stop learning we die. What can you do today to stretch yourself?

The questioning that I am talking about is that of a child… with inquisitiveness.  Have you ever spent time with a child and every other word out of their mouth is “why?… why?…..why?”.  It’s not about being right it’s about learning, growing becoming a greater human being.  So when I say “When you think you have found the answer” ask why again. The day we stop is the day we become stagnant and our brain ceases to grow and we cease to grow hence we die.  So our child like questioning will not only keep us young but keep us Brilliant!

So I ask you How can you stretch yourself today? What can you learn today that you didn’t know yesterday?

Let Your Soul Dance Free! April 24, 2010

I have this thing, call it love call it passion, you could even go so far as to call it an obsession with dance. You’ll either hear me say “She’s at it again” or “She’s dancin’ around her apartment again”, Thank goodness I live in a garden apartment or I’m certain my neighbors might not be too pleased with me. But there’s something so freeing about dance and the release of the spirit. When breath, emotion and the physicality connect to the authentic self nothing can compare.  It’s a moving meditation.  So I try to dance around with sheer abandon, like no one is looking everyday.  It is one of the most joyful things I do and I wanted to share is with you.

So I invite you to turn on the music and let your soul move to its own song.  Here is some inspiration
