The holiday season tends to make one reflect on what is important to them. I grew up listening to Johnny Mathis, Dean Martin, and Bing Crosby at Christmas. Somehow this song always, no matter when I hear it throughout the year… I reflect. What are you reflecting upon this day?
New York City Ballet filmed New Beginnings at sunrise on the 57th floor of 4 World Trade Center (previously known as the Freedom Tower) in lower Manhattan. This stunning short film captures the extraordinary and moving performance of Christopher Wheeldon’s “After the Rain”. It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and a tribute to the future of the city that New York City Ballet calls home. I thought I’d show this today with all the craziness in the world I’m wondering what you do to bring yourself back to center, to take a deep breath, to find your “home”.
I’d love to hear what you do! And make sure you watch this is full screen.
I recently started a video project where I talk about what has gone through my mind during my morning walk. And this is big for me and I’ll tell you why: I have been a professional working actor for 17 years and during that time a certain preparedness was drilled into my head. Professionalism to me meant to ALWAYS be camera ready. That means script memorized, hair and make-up flawless and wardrobe top notch. Going without make and a shower would be simply unheard of… but I wanted something different with these videos. I wanted to be as raw, open and bare as I could be. That said I had to be willing to be vulnerable and leave myself alone…. Hence my bare face without a stitch of make-up on. I barely go to the grocery store without my eyelashes and eyebrows on! Now here is my guilty confession…. I Like It! It’s easy and ease is something I can really get behind right about now. To allow myself to let that go has been quite liberating! It’s still amazing to me what can happen when you leave yourself alone….
What would you do if you simply allowed it?
Lots of Love!!

The last couple of weeks have been a phantasmagorical whirlwind for me!! I haven’t blogged much because I’ve been updating my site, finishing my meditation CD which entails being in the studio along with editing and creating my video series based on my seminar “Life is Now: Learning to live in the moment”. The whole series will be posted on my site. The operative word is will… I have to figure out the html… Gotta love a challenge and a fantastic web designer!!
Phew that’s even a lot to write but it doesn’t stop there the next bit of excitement I will be able to announce so soon! And themost exciting thing is Fantastic clients!!
So I thought I’d Show the beginning of the video series! Enjoy!
The last few days here in CT have been very raw for people. In response, so much has been said in reference to what “should” be done….. What parents “should” do… That word… should. My mind keeps going to the children who don’t have involved parents. What about them? Who will care for them? And then I came to the same thing that I always come to…..
Love.
The love of ourselves and more importantly the love of all, others. That is the only thing in this life worth anything. Love…. We can love all that is around us. So stop and ask yourself when pressures and stress of the season start tot get to you as they do to everyone…
What would Love do? And move forward from there.
My wish for you all at this holiday and Christmas season is true joy, peace but above all…. love
Today is December 1st and I’m absolutely “Gob Smacked” that we are so close to the end of the year…. I remember as a child adults saying that the older one becomes the faster the years will go. And at that time I thought they were all crazy but now? I’m right there with them. It’s also truly the holiday season now (even though the stores would like us to think otherwise) and as a real lover of this time of year I always watch the Big Crosby Danny Kaye movie White Christmas. Of all the absolutely quintessential Christmas music in it my favorite of all time is Count You Blessings. And since I’ve been blogging quite a bit these days about gratitude I thought I’d add this one into the mix. Enjoy!
I posted a few days ago the October 18th lecture by His Holiness so I thought I’d post his second lecture as well. It was on the following day at Western Connecticut State University . I also thought it was apropos after Monday’s post. 🙂 We could all use a wee bit of a reminder on living with compassion….
In the past few weeks the topic of being “alone” has been a big one! There is a difference from being alone vs. lonely. We all have moments through out our lives when we feel lonely but alone is very different matter. I’ve been known to say, “You can’t find the love of your life until you become the love of your life.” If we feel alone and do everything we can to avoid our own company we won’t be very good company for someone else. And in turn if you are entering a relationship so that you don’t have to be alone then you are not at your optimal…. Which is 2 people coming together at their greatest so that they can grow together. Because of this I am re-posting a blog post from 2010.
Here is a video that has recently gone viral on Facebook. I immediately feel in love with it!!!!! When I started to listen to it I recognized the voice as Tanya Davis’ who also created another über favorite of mine “ART”….. Take a look-see.
I simply wanted to share this YouTube clip this with you this morning. I was inspired by a friend on Facebook. Pema Chodron is a remarkable Buddhist monk who in this clip talks about Maitri: Unconditional Friendship with oneself. The greatest gift and a direct route to helping us learn from our Karma. She is a remarkable woman!
